Closed beta · by invite
A private tutor for every student.
It already knows your courses. Oxilys pulls your real course materials from your university’s Moodle by itself, so there’s nothing to upload or organise. It keeps you on track: it plans your reviews and shows you what’s due today. It doesn’t just give you answers, it helps you learn, and every answer shows where it came from.
Starts with Moodle. Other platforms next.

For a while, the app may still show its old name.
The app itself is in English for now. Hungarian is on the roadmap.
Sync a course, then just ask
Oxilys connects to your university’s Moodle when it has mobile access switched on. Three steps, and your course materials are ready for questions.
Sign in on your university’s page
Open your university’s Moodle from Oxilys and sign in on its own page, like always. We never see your Moodle password.
Choose your courses
Switch on the courses you want help with. Oxilys reads the PDFs and pages your lecturers posted and gets them ready. If the course has a syllabus, it sorts them by its weeks.
Ask
Ask about anything in the material. Every answer names the file it came from, and the page when there is one, so you can check it in a tap.
Nobody uploads anything. Your materials come straight from Moodle.
For invited students: how signing in works
Oxilys reads your courses the same way the official Moodle app does: with a key from your university’s Moodle. In the browser, you fetch that key in three moves. You sign in on your university’s own page, so Oxilys never sees your Moodle password.
Three browser windows. Oxilys, with an “Open Moodle” button and a four-step checklist. Your university’s Moodle page, with the link for opening the app and the right-click menu on “Copy link address”. Oxilys again, ready for the link to be pasted, with “Link received” as the current step.
Your university’s page opens
Pick your university in Oxilys and press “Open Moodle”. Your university’s own Moodle page opens in a new tab: sign in the way you always do.
Right-click the link
Moodle then shows a link for opening the app. Right-click it and choose “Copy link address”. Not the plain “Copy”: that copies only the words, not the link behind them.
In Safari, the menu item is called “Copy Link”.
Paste it here
Back on the Oxilys tab, paste the link. Oxilys checks that it came from the sign-in it started, and your courses start loading.
The checklist in the app
- Moodle tab opened
- You’re back
- Link received
- Connected
It works when your university’s Moodle has mobile access switched on. We’re starting with universities in Hungary.

Answers with receipts
It’s Tuesday evening and the exam is on Thursday. Tap a question and see how Oxilys answers: a clear explanation, a quick question to check yourself, and the source one tap away.
What are we working on?
I answer only from your synced materials - with receipts.
AI can be wrong - that’s why every answer shows its source.
Scripted demo - no AI is called and nothing leaves your browser.
Five minutes a day. That’s the trick.
Pick the materials you want and Oxilys writes flashcards from them for you. Then it schedules each card for just before you would forget it, so short daily reviews quietly add up.
Question
What does the AVL rule guarantee?
Answer
At every node, the two subtrees differ in height by at most 1 - so the tree’s height stays O(log n).

Why it works
Being quizzed beats re-reading (the testing effect, g ≈ 0.50)

That study was with high-school students, but it’s why the Oxilys tutor teaches instead of just handing over answers: it nudges you with hints first, explains with sources, then asks a quick question so you can check yourself.
It grows when you study
Finish a review and your moss ball grows - studying is the only thing that makes it grow. Skip a week and nothing is lost: it’s right there when you come back. No guilt trips, and nothing ever wilts.
- It grows only when you study.
- It never wilts, and it never sulks.
- A little care, every day.
Focus, with company
Start a focus session and your moss ball keeps you company. Friends you add with a code can sit in with you. Stop early and nothing is ruined: the time still counts. No leaderboards, no comparing minutes, no pressure.
Your data, plainly
No small print. Here’s what happens to your data in the app. The app’s full privacy notice comes with your app account.
We never see your Moodle password
You sign in on your university’s own Moodle page. Your Moodle password goes to them, not to us.
Your key opens only your Moodle
After you sign in, Moodle hands the app an access key. The app uses it only to talk to your own university’s Moodle.
Stored in the EU
Your synced materials, chats and flashcards are stored on servers in the EU. To write answers, summaries and flashcards, to make your materials searchable and to grade your spoken mock exams, the text involved is sent to AI providers in the USA to be processed.
Delete your data, any time
You can delete your account and your data from inside the app, anytime. No email to write, no form to fill in.
If you answer out loud
Your browser’s own speech recognition turns your voice into text. Oxilys only ever receives the text, never a recording, and keeps neither it nor any audio, only your grade from the mock exam where you answered by voice.
On the roadmap
This is our own plan for how Oxilys will grow and get better: an order, not a timetable. Only what’s marked “In the app” exists today; everything under “Up next”, “Planned” and “Exploring” isn’t built yet.
Moodle is where we start. Next, we want Oxilys to work with the other big course platforms too. No dates yet.
In the app
Spoken mock exam
Answer your flashcards out loud and get spoken feedback, like a real oral exam.
Up next
Not built yetOxilys in Hungarian
The whole app in your language.
Ready on exam day
Oxilys knows when your exams are and times your reviews so you remember the most on the day it counts.
Explain it back
Explain a whole topic in your own words, and Oxilys tells you what you left out.
Your weak spots
Every week, the five topics you’re shakiest on, with a 10-minute session to fix them.
Your weekly Oxilys podcast
A short episode made just for you every week: two moss balls talk you through what’s new, what’s coming up in your exams and where you’re shaky. Press play on the tram.
More course platforms
Beyond Moodle, the other big course platforms universities use, so Oxilys works wherever your courses live. No dates yet.
Planned
Not built yetYour second brain
Everything from your courses, organised into topics and linked notes you can browse, and export to Obsidian.
Books
Add the books your course uses, chapter by chapter or all at once.
Handwritten notes
Snap a photo of your notes and Oxilys adds them to your brain.
New in your course
A heads-up when new slides land, with flashcards already waiting.
A desktop companion
Your moss ball floats on your screen. Tap it, ask about what you’re looking at, and it teaches you instead of just giving the answer. It won’t help during graded quizzes.
Exploring
Not built yetPrivate by design
Your materials and brain live on your own devices, synced in encrypted form and available offline.

We’re two university students in Budapest. Our course materials all live on Moodle, so we wanted a study app that starts right there: nothing to upload, answers you can check, and a tutor that teaches instead of just handing you answers.
It’s a beta, and we’ll always say so - until it’s not.
Every invite request helps us decide what to build next.

Questions, answered
Does it work with my university’s Moodle?
The Oxilys web app works when your university’s Moodle has mobile access switched on, the same access the official Moodle app uses.
The phone app, once it’s out, signs in the same way as the official Moodle mobile app.
We’re starting with universities in Hungary. Name yours when you request an invite, and we’ll check it before we invite you.
What does it cost?
We haven’t announced prices yet. Right now it’s a closed beta, and invited testers will hear about pricing from us first.
Is this allowed?
You sign in with your own account, on your university’s own Moodle page. Oxilys then reads only the materials you already have access to.
Oxilys is independent: it isn’t affiliated with Moodle, with your university or with any other, and none of them endorses it.
If you’re unsure, check your university’s IT rules on third-party apps.
How does Oxilys relate to Moodle’s own AI?
Moodle has its own AI features, and your university decides whether to switch them on. Oxilys is separate: an independent study app you choose yourself, not part of Moodle or its AI. It reads only the course materials you can already see, through your university’s Moodle mobile access, and changes nothing there. If your university switches that access off, Oxilys can’t connect.
When can I use it?
Oxilys is in a closed, invite-only beta. Email us to request an invite: we let testers in step by step.
The phone apps come after the web app’s testing. Want to try the phone app early? Email us and say so.
What happens to my data?
If you email us, we use your email only to reply and, if you asked, to invite you to the beta or tell you when phone-app testing starts. The website itself has no forms, no cookies and no tracking; our host keeps standard server logs for a short time.
In the app, we never see your Moodle password, the access key is used only to talk to your own university’s Moodle, and your data is stored in the EU (AI processing happens in the USA - see “Your data” above). You can delete your account and your data from inside the app, anytime.
